Hey I pray that this email finds you well today!!! I don't know about you but one of the things I am often joking about is having job security as a worship leader. I often times say after a great move of God "welp my job is secure for the week!"One of the things I realize is that my "job security" doesn't come from the place WHERE I serve but it comes from WHOM I serve. 2 Chronicles 29:11 the b clause of that scripture in the MSG translation says "God has chosen you to take your place before him to serve in conducting and leading worship—this is your life work; make sure you do it and do it well.” To me that's a powerful assurance that I was chosen to do this and its my responsibility to do it to the best of my God given ability.
I know so many of us deal with insecurities and pressure to "perform" when it comes to leading worship and we base our effectiveness on the outcome of the service. I want to suggest to us all that we should be free to operate as God chose us to. So my security is in knowing that He chose me to do this and since He chose me to do it He will equip me to be efficient at it. Like with any job it is the employer's job to equip the employee with the tools he needs to be successful. God is our employer and He wants me to do well so I take full advantage of every tool He gives me because its all working for the greater good and helping me do my job better!
I hope that this blesses you as it blessed me when I read and it frees you from the pressure of thinking others may be better, or you have to perform and do certain things to get certain responses. My friends we have been chosen to lead in worship so lets do it to the best of our ability!!!
